News: A new article from CBS News about the latest in treating hair loss.
This article is significant for two reasons.
First, the main stream media is catching on to Follicular Unit Extraction, a relatively new form of harvesting hair from the donor area of the scalp to be transplanted into the balding areas of the scalp. As this procedure gets more coverage, more people will become aware of it and request it from hair transplant doctors. This could lead to more doctors using FUE instead of the traditional strip form of harvesting which leaves a scar. Morphollica.com will cover FUE and strip harvesting, and more on hair transplants in general in the near future.
Second, after reading the following article, it was interesting how little 'depth' was provided into the topics discussed. One of the points made was even incorrect. Specifically, this is where the article talks about the method by which Minoxidil (Rogaine) works. This is why it's important for people who want to learn about hair loss to use the internet, and to get the real scoop (although this can be a double-edged sword if you believe the wrong information! There are lots of snake-oilers out there!). To learn about the most common hair loss condition, read our research on Androgenetic Alopecia.
