Editor's Corner -- Yet Another Rant

Shaving your head bald...

If my hair loss ever gets to the level of Norwood 4, then I will shave my head completely bald. At the moment, I have a lot of hair still. And it still looks better in my opinion to keep the hair that I have, close-cropped, than to sport the shaven look. Even though I am losing hair at the crown, and have a receding hair line, I still have not reached that point of no return. And the older I am getting (I'm not yet 30 by the way) the less the thought of having the bald look bothers me. In fact, many hot women that I know think a bald man with confidence is sexier than a man with a full head of hair, but overly self-conscious. I wish I'd have know this, and believed this, in my early to mid-twenties when I was totally obsessed with losing my hair and thought that the ladies really noticed it. I look back at photos and realize I was only a Norwood 2 and I was so worried! I'm sure the same will hold true 10 years from now if I lose even more hair. I will look back to today and think I was an idiot for worrying about it so much.

One of my friends (who incidentally only started losing their hair last year) was so devastated by the onset of his hair loss, that he shaved it all off! He now looks like a million bucks, and the ladies don't seem to give a damn (as was proven to me the last time we went to a nightclub with a group of friends).

So I think if you're pining over your hair loss, and you're envious of guys with a full head of hair, try very hard to not think about it so much. If you're a Norwood 3 or lower, and you don't want to sport the bald look, get a neat, short haircut and use Minoxidil (Rogaine) and/or Finasteride (Propecia/Proscar) to keep what you have. If you're a Norwood 4 or higher, I say, shave your head. In either case, work out, dress sharp, and improve your confidence. I guarantee you that the vast majority of women won't give a crap about your hair if you excude confidence (by the way, by confidence I don't mean arrogance). As an example of someone who wears the bald look well, check out Vin Diesel.
