Editor's Corner -- Yet Another Rant

So I skipped a day...

In two ways I skipped a day yesterday. I skipped an application of minoxidil 5% and I also skipped writing my daily rant. I'm not too happy about either of these skippings.

But life sometimes happens I guess. In any case, I thought I would use the fact that I skipped a day of minoxidil to make a point, because I get asked this question quite a bit. Is it okay to occasionally miss a day of applying topical treatments like minoxidil or taking propecia. The answer to this one is an unqualified "yes". Is it okay to skip a couple of days? Again, "yes". Is it okay to skip a week? Okay now we're pushing it but it's probably okay. Is it okay to skip a month? .... Uh ... no. Not unless you want to lose ground.

Skipping a few days here and there is probably okay, but you want to try to stay as consistent as possible. When you're busy this is difficult, but you should try to make it a habit, like brushing your teeth. And try not to get disillusioned and quit. For the vast majority of us using minox and propecia or proscar will make a difference, at the very least slowing down hair loss.
