Women's hair loss/contraceptive pill
I'm interested to read about hair loss possibly being connected to the discontinuation/change of contraceptive pill. Do people know whether certain pills are more likely to cause hair loss? I changed from Dianette to Microgynon a year or two ago, and am really hoping that this is the underlying cause of my thinning hair, as then at least I could understand what's going on!

I am a bad one to ask about BCPs and hair loss. I blame BCPs for triggering my AGA. Definitely, I was pre-disposed to getting AGA, but the onset of it coincided with my trial of a tri-phasic BCP. Once triggered, the hair loss does not go away if it's truly AGA.
You might experience TE when starting or stopping BCPs, but you would know if it's only TE if your hair returned to normal 6 to 9 months later.
If you are currently experiencing hair loss due to AGA, I can't say if stopping BCPs now would help or not.
Doctors will tell you that BCPs do not cause permanent hair loss. I do not believe this at all.

Contraceptive pill
Hi
I've now switched my contraceptive pill from Microgynon to Dianette, which works differently to other pills as it's an anti-androgen. I'm hoping that this will at least stem my hair loss - time will tell if it will actually lead to some of my hair growing back. It's been about a month.

- Treatment Regimen: Was taking Proscar 2.5mg
Re: Women's hair loss/contraceptive pill
Has anyone been on Diane-35 for treatment of hairloss. I moved and had to pick a new dermotologist who would not renew my prescription for Proscar 2.5mg which worked for me, as far as stopping copious amounts of shedding, and helping my hair get thicker. So now I'm just searching for other remedies, because now its been 4 wks and the proscar is out of my system and the shedding is unreal. I know that Diane-35 is not FDA approved in the US. If anyone knows about it please let me know!

What is the connection of OCP's and hair loss guys? I really have no idea. If I start taking some certain pills, will I also experience hair loss?

I don't think many people know about pills causing hair loss. This is something important that we should know.
