It’s been awhile since I’ve tried a new product, and if you know me you know I like to mix things up from time to time..even if I’m using the same topicals year after year. I’ll slowly ease off of one and take a two week or so break from it and slowly bring it back into my regimen. I’ll maybe introduce a new product for awhile that may not even be made/sold for use on the scalp- Oxicell comes to mind. Or maybe I’ll just use a particular product less often. There are times when I’ll even go w/out using any topicals for a few days or more.
I do this so that my hair doesn’t get bored with whatever I’m using. Doesn’t get addicted to it. It’s just a wacky theory of mine, and I feel as long as I’m using something things will be ok. Taking a break from topicals for a few days or more doesn’t scare me either. In fact I picture my scalp and hair taking a break..relaxing…then getting a little panicky- we’re going to die! We’re going to die! We need nourishment! Growth promoters! We could tolerate the DHT but now they’re ganging up on us! But the follicles know the topicals are coming. They stay strong. When the topicals are finally delivered the follicles become even stronger than ever. It’s showtime.
So back to reality. Why Nanogaine? I’ve been a huge fan of SOD ever since I learned there was such a thing as actual SOD(which is superoxide dismustase), instead of just SOD mimetics such as copper peptides/products such as Tricomin and Folligen. Everything seemed to be based around how good of a SOD mimetic a particular ingredient/substance was. If one could use SOD- why not do so then?
I’ve actually tried a # of SOD containing products over the years. Whenever I use what seems to be a legit product, I seem to “do better”. A little more regrowth in areas where there was none before…etc. I can’t say for sure it was the SOD that was doing it, as I’ve always used other products alongside the SOD containing ones. Maybe it was the combination of things. Again, my rationale for wanting to use such a product is- it’s SOD.
Nanogaine looks good. No alcohol or pg, and about as clear as water. Great for the frontal area during the day. The multiple preservative sounding ingredients I could do w/out, but my understanding is SOD is hard to keep stable, and I guess by law products have to have some type of preservative(s) in them. The one thing I wish this product was though..is liposomal or nanosomal. The “size” of SOD does not make it a good candidate for penetrating the skin easily. Some do think that it’ll do fine traveling along the hair shaft/pilosebaceous unit. For in-depth information on what the heck that’s all about, see this this page . Notice they’re discussing the use of liposomal type carriers. I do have a Dermaroller sitting around collecting dust…which I’ll be using with this product. It’s supposed to allow for better penetraction of topicals. After this one wears out..I’ll probably just apply the Nanogaine w/out such a device. I only plan to use Nanogaine on the frontal areas..concentrating more on the temple/receded area. Will continue to use the other things I use.
One of the reasons the product comes in small vials(4 daytime..4 nighttime) *may* be because of the stability issue. I’ve noticed quite a few other products come that way too though..so who knows.
The other ingredients also look good. I’ve posted below what the company has on their website- explains the SOD better than I could, as well as the other ingredients. I may research those ingredients a little more and update this page in the future.

More info can be seen at the company’s website.
