hair loss and polysistic ovarian syndrome
I have polysistic ovarian syndrome and my hair has been falling out excessively over the past 8 months. I\'ve been taking yaz for months, and started taking spyrolactone and prenatal vitamins 2 months ago, and my hair is still falling out. What can i do to stop it and make my hair grow back?
Alicia,
I can certainly understand your concern about the continued hair loss. At Bauman Medical Group, we have treated many women who have PCO.
Unfortunately, PCO (polycystic ovararian syndrome) is known to wreak havoc with hair follicles, causing hair loss, shedding, etc. and there is no 'miracle cure.' Aside from the actions you've already taken, it might be a good idea to consider other non-invasive medical treatments to help your hair. The first step would be a consultation with a board-certified hair restoration physician. Recommended treatments might include other nutritionals, minoxidil, laser therapy, etc. as well as close monitoring, so we can tell what's working.
The first step would be to slow or stop the loss, then work on regrowth.
Consultations can be arranged through my office by emailing doctorb@baumanmedical.com
I look forward to helping you.
Sincerely,
Dr. B.
