thinning crown area but no receding hairline. is this consistent with MPB?
Hi Dr. Bauman. i have thick hair all over except the crown area which is visibly thinning.

there is also a bald spot and the area marked with the orange circle is thin. however my hairline is still a nice straight line with thick volume. no sign of receding whatsoever which does not seem to be consistent with the pattern of MPB. does the absence of receding hairline rule out MPB as the cause of my hair loss? my appointment with the dermatologist is 3 months away therefore i would appreciate any information you could give, thank you so much.
The absence of hairline recession does not necessarily rule-out male pattern hair loss. Sometimes, men see more loss in the crown or vertex, where the hair is parted away from itself because of the swirl. Remember for you to see the scalp shining through, 50% of the hair may already be gone. The best way to tell what is going on is not necessarily a visit with your local dermatologist, but instead a consultation with a hair loss expert or board-certified hair restoration physician. Photos, density measurements, hair caliber measurements, genetic testing and a complete medical evaluation normally takes about 40 minutes. If you would like to start the hair loss consultation process, this can be done at http://www.baumanmedical.com or via doctorb@baumanmedical.com Let us know if we can help in any way.
Sincerely,
