Eyebrow Loss and Restoration

Hi, I have been suffering from dermatitis on my scalp, face, and eyebrows since I was 16! My issue is that when I go to the dermatoligist and tell him that I have seb derm and its causing my hair and eyebrows to fall out, he tells me "Seb Derm" doesnt cause your hair to fall out! All I know is when I wash my face with just water I allways notice a few eyebrow hairs fall out and now my borws thinned through out! This is emotionally and physically devastating when a male loses there brows! I feel a constant burning sensation on both brows and notice flaking and redness especially on the right inner part of the brow! I tried every over the counter and prescription and notheing works! MY question is a 3 part question: 1. Does hairloss in particular eyebrow loss and seb dermatitis have a coerolation to rosacea? 2. Do you perform both strip and FUE for eyebrow restoration? Can one shave there head after a fue procedure with minimal notice of scaring? 3. What is the avg cost of an eyebrow restoration procedure? Thanks, Bob

Bob, I'm not aware of a proven correlation between eyebrow loss, seb derm and rosacea. However, I will do some more research and let you know. It is conceivable that they are related because there is an auto-immune and inflammatory component associated with seb derm and rosacea. We perform both strip and FUE. Because of the small number of grafts needed for eyebrow restoration, usually strip harvesting is more cost-effective. Also, because we don't need thousands of grafts for your eyebrows, the risk of scarring is very very small. 99% of patients heal with a zero to 2mm scar from strip harvest. This is easily hidden by your existing hair--even a short cut.
