frontal hair loss at age 17
My son who is 17 started taking Atenolol last year for a heart problem and and at the same time started to lose hair in the front. His Cardiologist and GP say it has nothoing to do with the medication, but it seems too much of a coincidence. He feels it is destoying his looks and self-esteem. Please help.
Dear Susan,
Atenolol is a Beta-Blocker and has been associated with hair loss. The type of hair loss is Telogen Effluvium. Please visit a dermatologist to exam his hair to see if this hair loss is due to male pattern hair loss or Telogen Effluvium.
