perifollicular chronic inflammation
began pulling my hair out at age 5. i no longer pull it out, but at the age of 32(last year, the hair was not growing back. had a biopsy that showed nothing abnormal and had 1000 grafts transplanted into the area on july 17, 2003. results not good with an area the size of a dime that is copletely bald. had a 2nd punch biopsy done on 10/15/04 with 3 places taken from area. results of all three: perifollicular chronic inflammation with focal scarring. It also states that: No disrupted hair follicles or significant hair follicular injuries as in trichotillomania are see. Does this mean that the inflammation is not related to the hair being pulled out for years. what causes this and how will i know when it has run its course?
I'm not clear about your story or the cause of the inflammation. When you say the results are "not good," what happened? How large was the area to begin with? Did the transplants grow then fall out? Did it grow in all areas except a circular dime-sized area? What kind of transplantation did you have (follicular unit, etc)?
Sincerely,
Dr. B.
