my daughter is 8 and never had a hair cut and her hair is only6 inches long

My daughter was born with a full head of black curly hair which all fell out by 4 wks of age. She was then totally bald until 4 yrs old when she began growing peach fuzz for hair. I took her to a dermatologist and she was then a special case presented before the Grand Rounds at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester NY. She was seen by 20-30 dermatologists. They diagnosed her with a form of uncombable hair syndrome. Later I took her hair sample to Alfred University for lab tests. They ran an SEM and it does not fit the diagnosis I got. I really would like to get another opinion. She is 8 years old, nails are fine, long dark curly eyelashes, blond hair on arms and legs, hair on scalp is patchy thin and kinky curly white- blond. She does have broken blood vessels by her left knee that rise to the surface of her skin and then disappear or fade. Other than that, she is extremely healthy but she does have spring allergies. She is my third child out of four. None of the other children have any problems. Her hair is really beginning to bother her. All of her friends have long beautiful hair and hers is short and uncontrollable. People will often walk up to me and ask if she has had some form of cancer treatment. I have been looking for another medical opinion on the nature of her hair disorder. What do you think? Thanks for your suggestions and or opinion. Davette, I would be happy to help you, but in general, these highly specialized cases are best handled by a 'team' like the one you visited with.
