telogen effluium
Over the past year and a half I have noticed more and more of a receding hair line that isn't so much receding backward, but rather upward, there has also been some thinning on the crown of my scalp. About a month ago I visited a dermotologist, who shined a light over my head and pulled out loose hairs reffering to them as "normal shedded hairs". She continued her exam by asking if I had any high fevers earlier this year, in which I did during the summer, a fever of 103 degrees, due to this she diagnosed me with telogen effuium which I never received much of an explanation about. The problem is that I noticed thinning way before the fever had occured. Over a year and a half I have been under a bit of stress and had been on the medication lexapro ( which I thought might be the issue?) I'm currently 26 years old. My fathers side of the family is pretty much bald and my mothers side is not. Which I guess doesn't make much of a difference? Also I tried saw palmetto for about 7 months with lysine, horsetail, thymus, and zinc. I'm just noticing more and more thinning.
any insight?
Dear Mike,
Please answer the questions below so that I could help you better:
1) Do you have a pattern of hairloss, which follows the typical hair loss in males?
2) Do you notice that the hair loss has been gradual?
3) Have you seen miniaturized hairs, or baby hairs on your scalp?
