hair loss
Hello Dr. Bauman, I'm 23 and have noticed hair loss for a couple years now but nothing to severe. It's definately starting at the top/back of my head. My Moms dad was bald and her who was the only girl of 7 and all of them went bald. Anyway I was wondering where I should start. I've heard of taking propecia and using the nizoral 2%. Do you think that would be a good start? I've been using the nioxin shampoo and scalp therapy and I think it has worked considerably. I guess my real question is should I start using propecia and is there a way to get it without going to the doctor. I'm in the Air guard and volunteered to work full time doing security forces due to the amount deployed and I really don't want to go the base doctor to get a prescription or recommendation to go talk about hair loss.. Call me a chicken but I think it's embarrasing! Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks and have a good day
Jeremy,
Propecia is a prescription. If you get propecia without seeing a doctor, that would be illegal.
I wouldn't hesitate to see your physician on base about getting a prescription. You don't have to get into a huge conversation. The propecia is safe and effective.
Keep me posted.
Sincerely,
Dr. B.
