hair loss in 4 year that cannot be diagnosed
My 4 yr old daughter began losing hair in Sept. 04 with rapid progression in a diffuse pattern.Three pediatric derms have been perplexed as to the cause.Alopecia areata?telogen effluvium? loose anagen hair syndrome?
A hair pull test revealed bulbs consistent with LAHS but the length of her hair gets longer.A patch of hair was shaved and a follo up 2 wks later with derm revealed a great amount of hair regrowth with no vellum/fine baby hairs.
I tried to make an appt with Dr. Olson at Duke but she is not taking new patients.We are awaiting path report on hair pull test,but the M.D.s are at a loss as to a dx. Any ideas?

What is the location and the pattern of her hair loss. What is the quality of the hairs that are on her scalp. Are they thick hairs or baby hairs? Any other medical or skin problems?
