Dr. Jones is among the first physicians in North America to add micro follicular unit extraction (FUE) - scalpel-free hair transplants to his practice. He has been practicing from his hair transplant center in Oakville (near Toronto) Ontario for many years, but since he started using the micro follicular unit extraction technique he has become a leader in the field.

Young Transplants
I am a 24 year old male with a with a thinning Norwood 2 hairline. I look like and have the same type of hair as my father (age 53, Norwood 5A to 6). I understand that you don't recommend performing transplants on young men because of problems associated with future hairloss. Is this because they wish to have a Norwood 1 hairline again? If a young male wished to only maintain his Norwood 2 hairline at a reasonable density and he could provide family history that would suggest he would likely not bald worse than a Norwood 6, would he then be considered a viable candidate for surgery? I am considering propecia but this will not address regrowing my already thinned Norwood 2 frontal hairline. It is this part of my hair I would like to increase density to (now) in order to put me back at a dense Norwood 2 (and then I would maintain it with subsequent surgeries). Any light you can shed on this scenario would be great.

Hello John,
I would start by trying propecia for a year. If you have no side effects and your hairloss stabalizes, then you can be more aggressive in restoring your hairline. You may get lucky and get a lot of regrowth on the propecia!
