Interactions between ingredients in Formulator
Hello Dr. Yechiel and welcome to the Morphollica.com Experts Panel!
I have a question regarding your new Formulator product/service. I think it's a great idea and I hope it catches on and you do well with it.
I was wondering how one can make sure that the ingredients that one picks in their custom formulation won't interact with each other in some adverse or non-beneficial way?
Will you be providing information about each of the ingredients so that we can get a complete understanding of everything before formulating our one custom product?
My own particular interest in the formulator is to come up with the best combination for combating DHT and androgens in the scalp, and also for potentially stimulating regrowth of dormant hair follicles.
Best Regards,
Sam

Hello Sam,
The Formulator was designed to allow people the freedom of intervention in non-medicinal topicals they wish to use and which may have consequences on their well-being. In antiquity, medicine and cosmetics were not distinguished as separate subjects but it was believed that health and beauty are one. Western medical philosophy and modern times feasibility constraints on individualized or personalized manufacturing resulted in mass marketing of consumer products with a one size fits all approach. In modern medicine, the problem is targeted rather than the person with the problem, so that medicines are made to be used by everyone with a certain problem. Of course, products are sub-classed to be more suitable to certain groups or to certain variants of the problem, but it is not possible to tailor a specific treatment for every person, not in medicine and not even in less-regulated consumer products. The supposed compromise is that you do not get something that is a 100% match for you but you had that new medicine designed and tested by a very impressive group of researchers and so you get a reasonable product. The reality of life shows that in many cases this is not happening either. The Formulator allowes you to make the final decision about the product you will be using. You can learn, consult with those whose opinions you value, and the site will often be updated with beneficial information on beneficial ingredients; we plan that each ingredient will soon be listed with a very short description that may help in deciding whether to use it, but we always expect that consumers will need to do their own research beyond any descriptions we may provide.
Ingredients which are current or will be offered later in The Formulator were combined before in several high-ingredient-load preparations among which all ingredient were combined. All ingredients will be added in safe quantities and all ingredients may otherwise be used orally. If one is allergic to an ingredient one should avoid it. This is part of the freedom of choosing. We also look at the final ingredient selection to make sure that nothing unexpected was combined. Many people get irritations and breakouts from concoctions they make at home because they want to formulate their own product but do not have the technical knowledge of formulation. If anything, we provide such amateur formulators the benefit of a well-manufactured product incorporating their ingredient selection.
For the many who are not comfortable designing their own product, we have a substantial list of pre-manufactured retail products for skin, scalp, and hair.
