my daughters hair loss
Hi
My three year old daughter up until about one year ago had long bouncy thick blond hair. Over a period of time it has become brittle, broken and very dry in condition. To the extent where it is very short every where except for the front and frontsides of her head. We monitered her and upon realising it was not due to \'hair pulling\' went to our gp who reffered us to a dematologist. We had to wait for three monthes for our appointment which we had today. The specialist said that he did not see it was anything to worry about, and that it takes a long time for damaged hair to grow back. (about .5cm per day. Based upon this she should have much more hair than she has by know. He also suggested that it could be due to her head rubbing in the buggy. She was out of a buggy by the age of one so we do not see how this could be relevant.
We are worried about the possible causes(my wife in particular) but do not seem to be getting anywhere with the great british national health service. Can you suggest what may be causing this situation and is there anything you suggest we can do to try to help improve things.
Regards
Steve Cooper
Hello Steve,
It is difficult to assess without seeing and examining your daughter. There are a long list of problems that can contribute to hairloss. I suggest you seek a second opinion if you are not happy and make sure she gets a full workup,
