Hair coloring
Can hair dye or coloring speed up the male pattern balding process? Is it harmful in any way?
Hair color is not dangerous when performed by a trained professional. Of course, any chemical burn that is strong enough to affect the skin can certainly affect the follicle. If your skin feels like it has been 'burned' after a hair color treatment, this is not a good sign. Typically, however, this is not a problem if you visit a licenced cosmetologist for a hair color treatment.
In fact, when done properly, highlights or a lighter color may help camouflage some of the thinning seen with male pattern baldness.
Sincerely, Dr. B.
