Dutasteride queries
Dear Dr. Khadavi,
I am 27 years old and suffering from hair loss for about 3 years. I started to use revivogen 1 year ago. Over quality of hairs on the top of head was improved and shedding was stoped. Unfortunately, my hairline is not responding /still sligthly receding/ so I am considering adding another DHT blocker. In this connection I have few questions.
1. Would you recommend me using Dutas despite I do not suffer from BPH?
2. Is GSK still performing trials for FDA approval for Dutas for hair loss /if yes, when it should be finished - if not, why?/ ?
3. What is the function of DHT in human body?
4. Which drug is more preferable according to you in the terms of effectivness and adverse effects /dutas - propecia/?
Thank you very much for your answers in advance.
Best regards
Juraj
Dear Juraj,
I am glad that Revivogen is doing well for the top of the scalp but it should also work for the frontal hair line. You may add Avodart since it is a great inhibitor of DHT production. GSK stopped the trials due to marketing/funding issues not due to effectiveness. DHT is primarily important during the fetus stage to develop genitals, but causes BPH, hair loss and acne later in life.
