Dutasteride treatment - the risks
My husband has recently purchased a 6 month supply of dutasteride gel capsules to treat his hair loss problem but I have concerns about this drug because of the risks to pregnant women, I am 7 months pregnant with our second son and we plan to have more children in the future. What are the risks to me and my unborn son being in contact with my husband while taking the drug? and what are the longer term considerations regarding wanting more children in the future?
Hello Wendy,
Dutasteride is on the list of medications that a male should not take when his wife is pregnant. It is thought to cause teratogenic affects during the second trimenster of pregnancy,
