Cysts
Dear Dr. Khadavi,
My fiancee has had cysts her whole life and in the past few years has had surgery several times in the same area (near lower tailbone and bum area). She has gone to the same surgeon each time and he is quite old and may not be up with new technology. She is only 33 years old and deals with a lot of pain each time these cysts inflame and it is very frustrating and quite painful causing her to get infections along with fever. Her doctor justs tells her that she is proned to these cysts and that there is not much she can do. Is this true or is there a solution. Is it even necessary to have these cysts removed since they come back anyway? Today she had her sixth surgery in the last six years and she had three different cysts removed (supposedly) and I am losing alot of faith in her surgeon and whenever she asks other doctors to try new methods, they say that she must go back to her present surgeon because they cannot get involved with another surgeons patient unless he refers her to them. Is there anything we can do or try? This is literally becomeing a pain in the but!
You need to have the correct evaluation of the cysts to make sure that they are not pilonidal cysts and perhaps use high definition CT to track the cyst before she has any further surgery. You may want to visit an academic institution to make sure you are recieving the best treatment possible.
