Receding Hairline- Causes and solutions?
Dear Dr.Robert,
I am currently 18 years of age, a few days of my 19th birthday. I\'m not balding or really badly receding or anything, so I\'m not in an utter state of panic, but my hair on both sides of my forehead at the frone has gone and I have a very slight receding hairline. I am curious as to why this has happened. My mother, father, grandfather, and grandmother on both sides are/were not bald at all, and my father at 55 does not even have a receding hairline. In addition, my brother has very thick black hair and has not receded, and he is twenty one. Why am I, therefore? I\'m wondering if it was the wax I used- I used a wax product called \"Dax\" which I used to spike up my hair, particularly at the front, and lots of people I spoke to said that it makes you lose hair. Well, funnily enough, having used it since January 2005, I have started to recede and have lost very small amounts of hair on both sides. I no longer use it. Was it the cause? I am an aspiring actor and do not want to lose my hair for personal and professional reasons. What can I do? Will there, in a few years time, be a cure for this do you estimate? Thankyou for your time.
Hello Alex,
I have never heard of gel being a cause of hair loss. You may have a gene somewhere cause the thinning. If it continues, think about propecia.
