problems after HT
I have had 3 h/t durring the last 3.5 years, and had ok growth after each one 4,800 hairs in all so far. Most if it has grew in but after the last proceedure i had some kind of reaction in the center of my head. approx 1 1/2 inch area scabbed turned Blk &never grew hair back . the doctor stated that this never happened to him prior so he is not sure if hair will ever grow again. my question is because the cost of H/T i dont just want to paid for something that will not work . have you seen this problem before ?
This is called central scalp necrosis and is felt to be due to an insufficient blood supply in the middle of the scalp to support the grafts. The doctor is correct in that hair in the area should not be expected to grow. After the area is completely healed, new hair can be transplanted into the area, but it has to be done very cautiously, a little at a time, to insure that there is growth.
