Tretinoin & Laser Comb

	Question

I am presently using oral and topical DHT inhibitors and am considering the possibility of adding Tretinoin & Minoxidol to the protocal. I have had moderate success with the latter in the past. However, I have also been contemplating the Laser Comb. My concern may seem far-fetched to one in-the-know, but I recall that one of the side-effects of Tretinoin is photosensitivity. Would this preclude me from using both Tretinoin & the Laser Comb simultaneously? Have these two therapies been used together safely in the past?

I don't typically recommend Retinoin with minoxidil anymore, so I don't have any advice for you. Retinoin was used to improve the penetration of minoxidil into the skin. It seems that most hair restoration physicians don't recommend minox with retin-a (retinoin) anymore since we have 5% minoxidil available. When minoxidil was weaker (2%), penetration was more of an issue. As far as I know, there is no such thing as a topical DHT-inhibitor. The proven therapies are Finasteride (Propecia) and Minoxidil. I have used laser therapy in my patients both alone and in conjunction with the fda-approved "cornerstone" therapies. What are you using topically besides minoxidil?
