skin/hair
Hello, I have a question concerning my skin. I have a mole in my eyebrow and I was told that if I were to get it removed that I could lose my entire eyebrow. Is this true? I have also heard that just that area where the mole was, the hair would not grow back but that I would not lose my entire eyebrow. Is there a chance where it would hit a nerve and I would lose my eyebrow or even my eyelashes?
Laura,
Any procedure used to remove the mole can certainly risk damaging the follicles in that area. The good news is that hair transplantation can be used to restore the eyebrow hair.
It has nothing to do with nerve damage--the removal of the skin (where the follicles live) is the factor. Lash loss is not likely. Let me know if this makes sense.
Sincerely,
Dr. Alan Bauman
