son is 15 and losing hair in the shower and on his pillow at night

Question

My son is 15 and for the last couple months has experienced excessive hair loss in the shower and on his pillow in the morning. No baldness from the father's side and on the mother's side - her father is 69 and still has most of his hair (some baldness). Should he be concerned and should he take rogaine or propecia? Thanks

Answer

Propecia would be the treatment of choice if he has androgenetic alopeica. This should be confirmed by a dermatologist.
