dhi
I\'m trying to gain further information on dhi transplants. Are they for real? No scaring, etc? And is this still your natural hair growing?
Any info would be wonderful.
I'm not sure what technique they are advocating. ANY procedure you have leaves a scar. The question is whether the scar is covered with hair or not.
It could be a type of Follicular-Unit Extraction or FUE. There are risks and benefits to all types of procedures. For example, individual extraction of follicles (with FUE) leaves no linear scar, but it is very inefficient. Today's strip-harvest procedures, if they are performed with a "trichophytic" technique, minimize the appearance of a linear scar. This makes FUE-types of procedures MUCH less attractive than a few years ago. You can read about FUE procedures and the trichophytic-closure on my website: www.baumanmedical.com You can read about how the trichophytic closure enables hair to grow RIGHT THROUGH THE SCAR--this hides the scar in the donor area.
I designed my own instruments for the FUE procedures and I still offer that procedure to patients. However, in my opinion, the "trichophytic" modified linear closures make the FUE technique less beneficial these days.
Hope this helps.
Sincerely,
Dr. B.
