HM: Waiting lists

I wonder whether there are gonna be huge waiting lists when HM finally comes out. (Just imagine how frustrating it would be if you knew that it existed, but you still had to wait for it.)

I say there'll be a lottery to decide who lives or dies..I mean who gets to go first.

I don't know. I think there are going to be waiting lists because it's a brand new kind of treatment, and the demand is going to be huge - there are millions of people who are affected by hair loss.

If HM works like they say it will, then the number of practioners who offer it will proliferate. I guess it would be offered first by existing hair transplant doctors, then specialized dermatologists, then run-of-the-mill dermatologists. Any other kind of doctor who wanted to add to his practice's revenue would get in on the action.

Who knows, it might even go the way of some dermatologic laser procedures and be offered in day spas by nurses.

****BUT****if Intercytex and Aderans keep a monopoly on the procedure, then cost would keep the masses away. If you could only get it done in a few select locations, cost and lack of motivation would keep most candidates from seeking it. Millions of people already are not treating their baldness....never tried treatments and never will.

Well, this is exactly the point I'm trying to make: At first the treatment will probably only be offered by specialists, and it might take a while until it is offered by run-of-the-mill dermatologists.

That might be because there is currently no treatment that truly works. You may be able to slow down your hair loss with minoxidil and Propecia, but very few people actually regrow hair they have already lost. I think there are many people who will have a hair multiplication procedure, even though they are not using minox or propecia.

With new procedures that I've seen (not hair-related stuff), it takes about 3 to 5 years for patients to feel comfortable with the new technique or medical device.

The waits to see a doctor would be months, not years. That's just my guess. It's fun to speculate about it though.
