Linoleic Acid (LA)
Original Purpose or Use:This is an essential long-chain unsaturated fatty acid found naturally in many foods. FDA Approved?N/A (LA is not a drug) Scientific Results:Several studies show that unsaturated fatty acids act as DHT inhibitors and anti-androgens Observed Results:None Notes:LA is found in many "natural" foods. A good source of fatty acids is flax oil, when taken internally. It is also available from various chemical companies in a 90% pure form. Many hairloss related products include this and other fatty acids in their ingredients. LA is not as potent as GLA (gamma-linoleic acid) but is much cheaper.
