Where's all the damned news!?

Post by perga »

All the hair loss forums are dead lately. Did we discover the cure and you all just failed to tell me!? (I HOPE I HOPE I HOPE!)

Last fairly interesting news I heard was about Trichoscience. Difficult to know what to make of it though.

Damn! I've fallen behind on my membership payments. Looks like I'll just take my hair back and leave....

Sounds like what Intercytex is doing, but Intercytex is supposed to start phase III soon.

I personally don't think these individual injection treatments are ever going to provide great coverage. I think it will likely be the FIRST type of hair multiplication treatment out, but I'm betting the results are less than we are hoping for right now.

In my opinion, a method that uses our bodies own regenerative properties (follica style) is our best bet for true restoration.

I also find it really irritating that in 10-15 years there will almost certainly be an effective and side effect free PREVENTATIVE treatment, which would make us one of the last balding generations. "We're the middle children of history man!"

Yes they are similar in many ways, but I think the main difference is that Trichoscience is using DSC cells as opposed to "regular" DP cells. If one choses to believe in Trichosciene's claims, that is...

Trichoscience claim that DSC cells are the ("most") mesenchymal stem cells of the hair follicle. That means that they are pluripotent cells capable of differentiating into all the cells of a follicle. Fundamentally, having stem cells differentiate into new follicles, is what Follica are trying to achieve too. Naturally, Follica harness different stem cells than Trichoscience, and initiate the process through wounding, but the basic idea is still the same to some extent.

"Trichoscience is using DSC cells as opposed to "regular" DP cells."

Are there irregular DP Cells?

But DSC cells or DP cells or combination of the two should put HT out of its misery.

lol! What I mean is that these are not the type of cells that "everyone else" uses. In that very limited context, DP cells are regular. However, I put "regular" in quotes because culturing DP cells is not a very regular activity in general... so calling them regular without quotes, thus implying that DP cells are somehow your run-of-the-mill cell that everyone cultures in their bathroom would perhaps sound a little funny.

And when I say "everyone else" I don't literally mean everyone on the planet. :-" I mean Intercytex, Aderans etc

On a side note, DP cells are irregular in shape, as are most cells, but we are digressing :)

Fingers crossed.

Regardless of the cell type that is being injected, I'm not too sure about these microinjection style treatments. A bald dudes head has got to be a graveyard of follicles and scar tissue... I just don't see how squirting little balls of cells into such a hostile environment will ever result in a viable head of hair. Of course, I could be wrong, and I hope I am, but I don't know.. my intuition seems to say no.

I am more hopeful about follica though... I like the idea of wounding to just wipe the slate clean, and then convincing the body to start over "fresh"

Unfortunately time is not on our side and without an accurate time frame being put on each of these scientific approaches and studies its hard to see an end to hair loss in our sight, we all now how these things work and there are always issues and thats not considering all the red tape that has to be cut to get these things in the hands or should I say scalps of the general public.

For some people five to ten years is a huge kick to the baby maker...
