The cure is "3 to 4 years away"...

Is it just me, or is the cure always "three to four years away"? In November 2004 they said that hair multiplication would be available in 2007/2008. Now they say it's gonna be available in 2009/2010. I wonder what they are gonna say in 2010. (Probably that it's "three to four years away".)

Oh man I know! It is so frustrating! They keep backing up the date. I personally think it will be about 10 years until something comes out. I really hope that I am wrong.

There was recently a news segment about it on tv but I missed it. I am gonna try to see if they put the segment online.

I think there is a good chance that something will come out in 2009 or 2010 - either by ARI or by Intercytex. However, I don't think it will be particularly effective. Dr. Ken Washenik said in a recent interview that this first generation would only be used to add some density after a conventional hair transplant. Unfortunately he didn't say how long it would take for future generatios of HM to hit the market.

It does indeed, but at least there is hope. Who knows - a decade from now baldness might be a thing of the past. (It's unlikely, I know....)

Yeah, I thought there would be some breaking news.

People who are in the hair transplant business will not say that HM will work amazingly well and also that it's 3 to 4 years away. Why would you get a hair transplant today if the cure is just 3 to 4 years away? So, they say that the procedure will help.

I'm starting to say, "I'll believe it when I see it. And, hair pieces are lovely."

I don't think that if you're at a stage 3 or higher on the Norwood scale that waiting for the cure is practical. I think one should try to maintain their hair for as long as possible with treatments, but at some point hair transplants are a great option. With docs like Hasson and Wong, Robert Jones, Alvi Armani, Rahal, Shapiro and others doing very high quality work, I think hair transplants are a great option nowadays.

The cure is at least 10 years off in my opinion, and even then it will not be without it's risks, especially if it comes in the form of hair cloning or some kind of gene therapy.

My two bits anyway.
