Trial started for dutasteride in treating MPB in Korea

Q. Has GlaxoSmithKline begun clinical trials for dutasteride as a
treatment for MPB?

A. Yes. In Korea, beginning in December 2006. If you access
ClinicalTrials.gov identifier NCT00441116, you will read that
GlaxoSmithKline started A Study To Assess The Efficacy And Safety Of
Dutasteride 0.5mg Once Daily For 6 Months In The Treatment Of Male
Subjects With Androgenetic Alopecia. Inclusion criteria: Diagnosis of
Male Pattern Hair Loss classified as type IIIv, IV, or V utilising the
modified Norwood-Hamilton classification (N.B. types IVa and Va are
excluded).

The exclusion of 'N.B. types IVa and Va (frontal hair loss) will skew
the results in their favor.

I just finished a telephone conversation with a representative from
GlaxoSmithKline, who informed me that she does not know of any plans to
have similar clinical trials for dutasteride in the U.S., but that when
and if such trials do take place, they will be listed on their official
