Why does my scalp sting when I sweat?

Post by gbp2000 »

I just went for a run and once the blood got pumping my scalp started stinging, or should I say the thin areas most. below my original hairline (kind of lines up with the galea), there was very little stinging at all. I havn't worked out in ages and had forgotten how this always happens to me.

Is it normal for all people, balding and non, and if not, what might it indicate about my scalp?

Sweat can sting the scalp due to the high sodium content in perspiration. The more excoriated the skin the worse it will sting. Topicals and shampooing tend to keep the scalp a bit more excoriated than the rest of the skin. I wouldn't worry too much about it.
